About Eric Garland
A former family pastor at Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas, Eric Garland now serves in a similar role with First Baptist Huffman. Former Lufkin spiritual leader Eric Garland rejoined the Huffman church having originally come to the community in the spring of 2014, following receipt of his master of theological studies from California's Golden Gate Theological Seminary.
Eric Garland began his journey to ministry at the age of four, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. At 17, he became a program leader at The Island, a youth camp run by Word of Life. As the call to ministry became even stronger, he enrolled in the Word of Life Bible Institute, where he received a diploma in theology. The following summer, after serving as program coordinator at The Island, he received his diploma in youth and leadership ministry.
Eric Garland completed his bachelor of science in Bible and philosophy at Clarks Summit University. He went on to serve as a children's ministry intern at Hulen Street Church and later became children and family pastor at First Baptist Church of Conroe, Texas, after which time he became assistant director of student life and discipleship at Cedarville University.
Mr. Garland has also served as a preacher in church revivals and as a guest preacher in a number of churches' regular worship services. Experienced as an outdoor evangelist as well, he has preached in two week-long summer camps and has led international missions to Taiwan, Honduras, and the Philippines.
